Actual Blogging Goodness!

Angela and Julia here, employees of Garden District Needlework. We both knit, Angela spins and needlepoints as well, because she is an overachiever. Today, there weren't many customers, because it's the first weekend of JazzFest, it's somewhat warm, and very, very wet. Not ideal needleworking weather...well, not for the shopping part, anyways.

Kim (another employee), Angela, and Julia spent most of the day making these little laminated signs for the yarn. Each sign has little icons for the yarn fiber types, the name of the yarn, and the price. The price is also usually listed on the yarn itself, but in very teeny-tiny type. So we get a lot of people asking (quite rightly) what the price is for this or that yarn.

We've got about 180 of the little signs up, which is probably about half of what there is to do.

Meanwhile, of course, we're working on our projects. Diana is doing the October Heart of the Month canvas with her impeccable stitches. She's really enjoying it, and thinks all the harts of the series are whimsical.



Angela is doing up the Basil Sweater from the Rowan Summer Tweed Collection with the Loganberry Summer Tweed -- sweet!


She's also working up a lace shawl with Koigu. She made a boo-boo with an extra YO, so she's marked the spot with a safety pin. (Note the lifelines!)



Julia's also got Koigu fever. How can we help it? It's just the coolest yarn.


And we've got in some new colorways...



Julia's knitting up the Endpapapers Shawl from Book of Yarn, which is looking fine, though not quite like the pattern picture in the book. There are, I'm afraid, several mistakes in that pattern. After five rip-outs, Julia has decided the whole thing is close enough!



Julia's also well into her second sock of the pair in a Koigu colorway that reminds her of crayons.



It's a rainy day. We're worried the people at JazzFest may be drowning.
